Me and Paws at Comerica Park
When I was 4 yrs. old I started playing baseball with my brothers. I immediately loved the game, couldn't get enough of it. I watched the tigers on tv and listened to them on the radio at the same time. I had all the stats. I played all the way through til Junior High School. All the while my dad watching, telling me I can do anything I want to do. Then came that day. That awful day. I tried out for baseball in Junior High. The coach gave us this big ball that was heavy and harder to hit and throw. It was a softball. I said, no I play baseball. The coach said, the girls play with this ball. I said no, I am in training to be a TIGER BASEBALL PLAYER. I stood there and over on the other diamond were the boys playing baseball. I said, I am supposed to be over there. He said girls play softball, boys play baseball. I went home that evening crying and showed my dad this big ball. I told him they said I have to play with this. My dad didn't know what to say. Then I looked at him and said, "I'll never get to be a Detroit Tiger Baseball player will I?" I ended up with a scholarship for softball, but it was never the same as playing baseball. I love the Tigers and watch every game.
